Stock Parish Council has issued the following update for villagers and local businesses on a number of topics following the Council\u2019s latest meetings.<\/p>

At the Annual General Meeting, held on Tuesday 12 May, Paul Fenwick and Mark Rolph were re-elected as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively.<\/p>

Cllr Fenwick delivered his annual statement, explaining how it had been a very challenging year for the Parish Council, with a legal case brought by two villagers regarding the Common Car Park leading to a year of works and projects being put on hold.<\/p>

The Court judged in favour of the defence filed by the Parish Council, whose legal costs of \u00a366,000 were granted and will need to be paid within six months.<\/p>

It is hoped that, when these costs have been paid, works which had been put on hold will be rescheduled and carried out, and the Parish Council is moving forward with optimism and renewed resolve.<\/p>

In the meantime, the Parish Council is continuing to work on numerous projects for the betterment of the village.<\/p>

The Parish Council has discussed concerns regarding the potential inappropriate development of the former Stock United Football Club pitch in Mill Lane at length with villagers.<\/p>

An Article 4 Direction planning regulation is in place, removing permitted development rights of the site, which sits within the Metropolitan Green Belt.<\/p>

S-Type Security were employed to protect the site over the May Day and Whitsun Bank Holiday weekends.<\/p>

The Parish Council will continue to remain in close contact with relevant stakeholders and it remains the Parish Council\u2019s hope that the site will one day be returned to community use.<\/p>

The Parish Council is also committed to pursuing reduced speed limits, average speed cameras and other measures to improve road safety.<\/p>

The introduction of Vehicle Activated Devices is working well, acting as a deterrent to speeding motorists in Stock Road and Mill Road.<\/p>

The Community SpeedWatch patrols continue and have caught hundreds of speeding motorists in the past two years, all of whom have been contacted by Essex Police.<\/p>

Regarding the potential for parking restrictions to be introduced at dangerous junctions, the Parish Council will continue to review the situation and consult fully with all stakeholders. An independent Road Safety Audit to be carried out by Essex County Council has also been commissioned.<\/p>

Extensive maintenance has been carried out across the village, including repairs the pavements in the High Street and verges, the installation of a new litter bin at the top of Furze Lane and new posts in Common Road and the High Street.<\/p>

The Parish Council\u2019s Memorial Tree project has been well-received, with the first Memorial Trees and Plaques being installed. Villagers interested in planting a Memorial Tree should email info@stock-pc.gov.uk<\/a><\/strong><\/p>
