Thank you to everybody who attended Saturday’s ‘Stock Against Speeding’ campaign, in particular the family and friends of Freddie Coleman.
Hundreds of villagers turned out in support of the campaign, walking from the Village Hall to the centre of Stock, stopping at the village sign for a photo, across the Zebra crossing and along the other side of Stock Road, crossing opposite the Baker’s Arms and returning to the Village Hall.
BBC Look East television, BBC Essex radio and the Echo newspaper were all present. We were told the report will appear on Look East on Saturday afternoon/evening.
We are committed to improving road safety in and around Stock for everybody – pedestrians, cyclists and motorists – and have made a number of applications to the Local Highways Panel to reduce the speed limit to 20mph and install average speed cameras on the B1007 Stock Road, to replace the Zebra crossing outside Budgen’s with a Puffin crossing, to improve the Zebra crossing by the Baker’s Arms and to reduce speed limits on the B1007 either side of the village.
Thank you again.
