Essex County Council have issued a Public Path Diversion Order to divert part of Footpath 23 in Stock from 21 November 2024.
Footpath 23 links the west side of the north end of Madles Lane, close to the junction with Whites Hill, with Well Lane. The new route of Footpath 23 will see it connect with Madles Lane via a culvert at a location 34 metres north east of the current connection point, as shown in the Essex County Council map here:
According to the Public Notice of the Public Path Diversion Order published by Essex County Council:
“Copies of the order and order map can be requested to be posted or viewed by emailing publicpathorders@essexhighways.org to arrange a suitable time to inspect the documents quoting the Order title. Documents can be made available for inspection 8.30am-4.30pm Mon-Fri at Essex County Council, County Hall, E block main reception, Market Road, Chelmsford if so required following the current social distancing restrictions. Copies of the order and order map are available on Essex Highways website here and have also been sent to Chelmsford City Council and Stock Parish Council.
“The alternative route will come into force on 21 November 2024 and the old route shall be stopped up with effect from 28 November 2024, but if a person aggrieved by the orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained in them, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 7 November 2024 make an application to the High Court.”
