Mill Road will be closed between its junctions with Furze Lane and Downham Road for nearly four weeks in July 2026.

Essex Highways have informed Stock Parish Council that Mill Road will be closed for a distance of approximately 440 metres between Monday 6 July and Friday 31 July – a period of 26 days.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footpath and ditch reinstatement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route will be put in place via Downham Road, Mill Lane, Mill Road and vice versa.

Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

Stock Parish Council requests that motorists drive considerately while using Mill Lane, part of which has no footpaths, and respect the speed limits in place.
