Dear Parishioners,
I outline below the answers to some of the questions being presently asked regarding the former football ground site in Mill Lane.
This must be a generic response as there are too many enquiries being received to reply to on a one-to-one basis.
The former football ground was sold as six individual plots to six individual purchasers by auction. These ranged in size, the largest plot of approximately three acres has been pursued by travellers, making an offer of £360k. A second plot is also in question. The average purchase price of the other five other plots was £30k/£40k approximately.
To acquire all six plots will require the £500k Stock Parish Council (SPC) are campaigning for by way of donations. To date the donation total made by promissory notes etcetera totals £271k. This will be called for to be paid into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) trust when registered.
The CIO will purchase the plots to be returned to a sports and leisure ground for perpetuity, by purchasing the plots directly into the CIO. Gift Aid can be applied for.
The vision of SPC is to create a sports and leisure facility with a pavilion for inside leisure activities for the benefit of all Stock parishioners.
Should SPC fall short of the £500k, then all promissory notes will be cancelled and any donations refunded.
SPC have worked tirelessly to secure the former football ground, having met and negotiated with plot owners, setting up the CIO trust and making a considerable donation toward this fund. It is now for the parishioners of Stock to grasp the gravity of this situation and the realisation of the social disruption and adverse property valuations which could apply.
Following the last SPC meeting in June, which was highly attended, a second meeting is planned to be held at Stock Village Hall in September, on a date to be confirmed.
This will give you, the parishioners of Stock, the opportunity put the many questions being presently circulated to Stock Parish Council.
